The Unknown Album, 2021

Sequenced darkroom prints, variable sizes

Learning to read vernacular or "social imagery," is something increasingly important. With images increasingly becoming the main form of mediating information whether they be on social media or within a film as single frames the depth of information that they can offer us with respect to daily life and wider social and cultural issues is very important, however, navigating the increasingly messy landscape that is social networks and the web can be stressful and dizzying. Taking this concept into a physical space and utilising imagery that I have no personal relationship with to create collages that are equally as sinister and cold is a process which helps me to understand how certain visual cues and aesthetics hold stereotypes and conventions which helps us navigate through an image based culture.
